Society for Museum Archaeology Conference

We attended the Society for Museum Conference at Colchester Castle Museum (5th to 6th November 2014). We circulated information about the project to the attendees, and made a short announcement. It was a good opportunity to discuss the project and explain what we hope to achieve

Pottery fabric series are a key reference resource that are often curated by museums. These resources have been developed over many years, and are an essential tool for comparing assemblages from different archaeological excavations and a building block for synthetic research. We are in contact with colleagues in museums and assembling information on archaeological reference resources.

Conference in memory of Paul Courtney

We attended the Conference in memory of Paul Courtney on Saturday 18 October in Leicester. This was jointly organised by the Finds Research Group and the Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology, with Yolanda Courtney. There were lots of interesting papers on a wide range of topics, and many moving memories of Paul.

We made some useful contacts for the project, and were given the opportunity to announce it to all present. Many thanks to all.
